Collecting an email address is not enough: it has to be usable. SmartEmailValidation is the Oscar check designed to improve the quality of the addresses entered during WiFi login, flagging possible problems to the guest before the data reaches your guest profiles.
Why the check matters at login
A typo can stop a message from reaching its recipient. Incomplete or invalid addresses also make the database less useful, even when the total number of contacts seems to be growing.
With Oscar Smart WiFi, collecting the contact is part of the login experience. Stepping in at that moment lets guests correct the data while they are still using their phone.
How SmartEmailValidation works
When an invalid address is detected, the system alerts the guest and asks them to check it. The filter allows a configurable maximum number of attempts: once that limit is reached, the address entered is accepted anyway. So the check never becomes an indefinite block on browsing.
Technical validation does not prove that the address belongs to the person who typed it, nor does it guarantee that every future email will be delivered or read. It is a tool to improve the data collected, not a promise of delivery.
A correct contact is a starting point
Cleaner guest profiles make it easier to use the Revenue Automation tools: newsletters, messages linked to the stay and invitations to come back. Before any campaign, the recipient’s preferences, the content and the relevance of the offer matter too.
- Check the quality of your contacts, not just their quantity.
- Respect the communication preferences expressed by guests.
- Look at sending results to spot addresses to correct or exclude.
